Young’s double-double leads R.A. Long over Fort
Rhet Young posted a double-double for the Lumberjacks in a 79-41 non-league win over Fort Vancouver on Saturday at The Lumberdome.
With Young holding things down on the block R.A. Long secured a 14-point lead in the first quarter and then kept right dominating the Trappers the rest of the way.
“We jumped on Fort right away,” R.A. Long coach Jeray Key said. “Then in the second half we gave them a heavy dose of Tra Jenkins and Rhet Young in the paint. Those guys controlled the paint and the boards for us.”
Young finished with a game-high 22 points to go with 10 rebounds. Jenkins added 11 points and five boards.
However, it was the play of Landon Irwin and Josh Crane that allowed the Jacks to seize control of the contest quickly.
