McBride lifts Kalama over T-Wolves
The Kalama boys basketball team escaped from East Lewis County with a 75-68 victory over Morton-White Pass, Monday, in a contest between former league foes. Gavin McBride helped the Chinooks enjoy the bus ride home from Morton with 24 points and nine rebounds.
“It's always tough making the trip to Morton and we had a heck of a time slowing down Judah Kelly,” Kalama coach Wes Armstrong said. “He lit us up.”
Kelly and the T-Wolves clawed their way to a two-point lead after one quarter and held a 34-32 edge at halftime. Kelly would go on to score a game-high 35 points, while Kohen Ingalsbe added 15 points for the hosts.
But Kalama caught fire out of the intermission, scoring 25 points in the third quarter alone to take over the lead for good.
“We weren't real efficient at times but got in a nice groove offensively (after halftime),” Armstrong noted. “We did a nice job running our offense and finding Gavin who was the hot hand tonight."
