Tee Lumberjacks capped another perfect week with a 78-45 win over Hockinson at The Lumberdome, Friday, in 2A Greater St. Helens League boys basketball action. The occasion also marked the 100th victory for Jeray Key as head coach of R.A. Long the occasion was marked by the presence of former players in the bleachers and confetti in the air.

But the win that mattered most to Key was the latest one. Not because of the milestone. But because that’s been his mantra to his team all along — the next game is the most important.

‘There were a lot of distractions,” Key noted. “It was Senior Night for the cheerleaders, it was homecoming, and the guys were trying to get me my 100th win, so there was just a lot going on.”

And the Lumberjacks accomplished everything that was on their to-do list, including hitting the quan at the post-game dance. But before that it was all business on Joe Moses Court. And Key wasn’t going to let the pomp and circumstance of the night get in the way of a good butt chewing early in the contest.

“I guess sometimes I’m not an easy guy to please because we had a good lead before halftime and I was still getting after them pretty good,” Key admitted.
