Toledo wins Blast Zone battle at Toutle

The Toledo boys basketball team claimed Gateway to the Blast Zone bragging rights, Friday, with a 57-28 win over Toutle Lake in Central 2B League action in the heart of volcano country.

The Riverhawks blew up the hosts’ defense from the inside out, with their dominant post Cooper Fallon notching a classic double-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. The victory was the seventh in the row for the Cheese Town hoopers.

Toledo led by 11 points after the first quarter and took a 24-11 advantage into the locker room at the break out on Spirit Lake Highway.

River Moss and Jacob Grabenhorst each scored nine points to lead the Fighting Ducks. CaleB Webber added eight points for the hosts.

The Riverhawks’ erupted for 22 points in the third quarter to add another dozen points to their lead entering the home stretch.

Adam Kruger added 12 points with five rebounds and four assists for Toledo. Tyce Vigre also posted 12 points to go with a half dozen rebounds.

Toledo (9-1, 5-1 league) currently holds the third spot in the C2BL standings and will play at Rainier (WA) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers currently sit one spot behind the Riverhawks on the league ladder.

Toutle Lake (0-10, 0-3 league) will play at Onalaska on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Cheese Town Laugh Factory

For the second straight year, Toledo basketball will be hosting a standup comedy show fundraiser within the reaches of the Blast Zone. And returning to the lineup will be a Toledo alum, who also happens to be a State champion.

The comedy show will feature Toledo’s own Austin Trafelet, who also played basketball at Lower Columbia College, along with Patrick Deguirre and Bo Johnson.

The show will be held on the evening of Jan. 25, at the Vintage Ballroom at Hotel Washington in historic downtown Chehalis. Tickets to the event cost $25, and fewer than 50 seats remain.

Proceeds from the event will go support the Toledo boys basketball team.
