The Lumberjacks found themselves in an unfavorable position on Thursday. Having lost to Columbia River in the semifinals, R.A. Long had just one chance left to clinch a spot in the state tournament. And in order to do so, the Jacks would have to defeat Hockinson, a team they’d lost to twice in the regular season.
Oh, and they had to do it on the Hawks’ home hunting grounds on the natural grass at Hockinson. So that’s what’s R.A. Long did, capturing a 2-1 victory in the loser-out/winner-to-State round of the 2A District IV Tournament.
“Big result on the road against a team that the only team that skunked us – twice – this season,” R.A. Long head coach Max Anderson said.
