HAZEL DELL — If high school football games spanned 49 minutes, odds are that by the time you got around to reading this R.A. Long and its faithful followers

would still be celebrating. After all, it would have been its first four-game winning streak in over a decade and its first win over Columbia River this millennium, and probably ever.

But alas, games are just 48 minutes and the Lumberjacks’ furious fourth quarter attempt to wipe away an 18-point deficit came up about 20 yards and one minute short in a 31-28 loss to the Rapids (1-2, 2-3) in 2A Greater St. Helens League action at John O’Rourke Field, Friday.
