As you may have noticed, Kalama is back in the 1A ranks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the Chinooks are unprepared for or intimidated by the change in scenery. That much is clear after a perfect 5-0 start to the season and three straight wins to open Trico League play.

“We did our homework ahead of time, or saw the writing on the wall, so to speak, and paved the road to get here” Kalama coach Mike Phelps said, noting that his team played all larger classification schools in their non-conference schedule last year. “I would say (it’s been) so far, so good. I think we’ve handled it pretty well.”
