Sizemore nets 1,000th point, Tigers get back to State
The Clatskanie girls basketball team was all ready to celebrate a milestone late last week, but it turns out they were late to their own party. Prior to a home date against Nestucca to open the postseason last Thursday, the Tigers were making preparations to celebrate the impending 1000th career point of junior Joey Sizemore.
According to unofficial tallies, Sizemore needed just nine points in order to reach the impressive prep threshold and her extended fan club showed out to watch the special moment in person. The problem was that Sizemore had actually reached quadruple digits in the scoring column earlier in the week in a big win at home over Columbia Christian.
It’s just that nobody knew that at the time.
“We thought that she needed nine more after the CC game, but last year's coach reached out to me and said she was mistaken and she had hit it during CC,” Clatskanie coach Dawn Warren said.
