The Toledo girls soccer team posted a shutout in Pacific County, Monday, with a 2-0 win over Raymond-South Bend at South Bend High School in Central 2B League play. Onica Chase led the Riverhawks with a goal and an assist.
The victory left the Riverhawks with a traversable path to a second place finish in the league standings as the season grows long in the tooth.
Toledo took an early lead when Chase converted an assist from Xtyn Norberg for a goal in the 11th minute. That score lasted through halftime and well into the second half until Peyton Holter posted a goal off a pass from Chase.
The Toledo defense held the Ravens to just one shot on goal, while Abril Cabrera posted one save to preserve her fourth clean sheet in league play.
“The keeper is part of that, but our defense has been great,” Toledo coach Horst Malunat said. “If I’m being honest, I think we have one of the top two defenses in the league. In most of our games we’re just not finishing, but our defense has been great at limiting shots.”
