Jacks get ‘clinical’ to dispatch Monarchs

LONGVIEW MEMORIAL — The R.A. Long and Mark Morris boys soccer teams walked onto the pitch on Monday with drastically different records and seasons trending in opposite directions. But for most of the first half the Lumberjacks and Monarchs were in lock step as they battled out the season’s first Civil War in the twilight hour at Longview Memorial Stadium.

But as the sun sank lower so too did the odds for the Monarchs as R.A. Long began piling on goal after goal on the way to a resounding 8-0 win. Andres Orozco led the Lumberjacks with two goals and two assists in the rivalry contest.
