Mark Morris places 4th as hosts of Three Rivers Classic

It wasn’t all that long ago that local media types showed up to cover the Three Rivers Classic only to find the doors locked and the gymnasium empty after a last-minute cancellation by the hosts from Mark Morris. So it was a pleasant change/return of pace, Saturday, when the Monarchs opened Bill Bakamus Gymnasium for a 15-team throw down on the mats covering Ted M. Natt Court.

Timberline won the traditional winter break event with a team score of 167.5, while Hockinson placed second (147.5). La Center (114) wound up in third place in the team standings, while the Monarchs (103.5) finished fourth in their own event.

Other local teams in attendance included R.A. Long (7th/65 points), Toledo (tied for 8th/63 points), split squad teams from Castle Rock (10th) and Kelso (13th) along with Clatskanie.
