Kelso’s Newton, Andrews win titles at Holter Invitational

The Kelso boys wrestling team was busy last week with regular 3A Greater St. Helens League action along with the responsibilities that come along with hosting a tournament. And a couple Hilanders even managed to make their way to the top of the podium.

On Saturday the Kelso High School campus was once again taken over by wrestlers from near and far who were competing for a tournament championship. But instead of the girls’ Braided 64, it was the Dave Holter Invitational that brought grapplers to K-Town.

And while the Hilanders placed fourth as a team with 159.5 team points, they were also able to celebrate the individual accomplishments of athletes like Ryder Newton (126) and Balian Andrews (150), who both managed to win their bracket.
