Red Devils sweep Tacoma to clinch playoff berth

The Lower Columbia College volleyball team had to hit the road at the end of last week with a postseason berth in the balance. It turned out to be a short trip after the Red Devils swept Tacoma 25-17, 25-23 and 27-25 to clinch a berth to the NWAC playoffs out of the West Region.

Samantha Farland led the Red Devils with a dozen kills to go with three digs, while Kenny Collins added 11 kills and 13 digs.

Allison Orantes orchestrated the offense with 15 assists to go with seven digs, and Charissa Schierman added a dozen assists, three kills and three digs in the win.

Madi Noel helped to steel the defense with 22 digs to go with six assists, and Morgan Garrison tallied six blocks with five digs and two kills for the Red Devils.

The Titans were led by Emilia Linden, who posted 13 kills, while Leilah Lemalu added 12 kills and 26 digs.
