Red Devils hot start goes up in smoke
Red Devils saw their season come to a disappointing finish at Longview Memorial Stadium, Saturday, in the NWAC women’s soccer quarterfinals. It took two halves and two extra overtime periods before Lower Columbia came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision against Spokane.
“It was really a tough way to go out and kinda similar to last year in the Final Four,” LCC coach Joe Chicks said. “We had some chances we didn’t take advantage of.”
Neither team saw many great chances to score, with just 11 shots on goal between the squads. Lower Columbia goalie Jade Goulding made three saves on the day, but couldn’t stop the final attempt from Cora Murray in the second overtime period and the 106th minute of play.
“Give Jade Goulding some props; she was probably one of the best goalkeepers in the entire NWAC all year,” Chicks said.
