This Day In History
April 19, 1989: The big bats never showed up for Mark Morris softball, so the Monarchs turned to small ball to beat Hudson’s Bay 1-0 win at Seventh Avenue Park. After Kim Kay drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the seventh, Lisa Branch laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her into scoring position. Trina Moore put down another bunt, and the Eagles winged the ball into right field to let Kay score and the Monarchs walk off. Jill Stockdale ended up striking out four in a shutout, allowing just one hit in the final five innings.
