High school football camp got underway with the stroke of midnight in Washington with practices officially getting started on Wednesday. The gridiron gangs over in Oregon Country got a 48-hour head start when camp opened on a traditionally manic Monday.

The BZM crew was burning the midnight oil last night to capture images of the midnight madness in Woodland, Kalama and Wahkiakum. Keep an eye out in the coming days as we continue to file dispatches from prep football camps all around The Blast Zone coverage area in advance of Week 1 kickoff.

This Day In History

Aug. 19, 2025 — Rick Sweet earned his 2,418th career minor league victory and moved into third place all-time for career wins as a minor league manager as his Nashville Sounds defeated the Louisville Bats 7-3. Sweet, a former Mark Morris Monarch, Lower Columbia Red Devil, and Seattle Mariner, has since moved into second place on the all-time list for wins as a MiLB skipper and was recently profiled by The Athletic/New York Times.
