Balanced Jacks bake Spuds

The R.A. Long boys basketball team will enter the season’s first Civil War riding a 12-game win streak to open the season and holding the No.1 ranking in the WIAA RPI calibrations.

The undefeated Lumberjacks continued its march through the regular season with a 65-43 win over Ridgefield in 2A Greater St. Helens League action last Friday at The Lumberdome.

Coming just two days after the Jacks dispatched the formerly No. 2 ranked Woodland Beavers, and four days after taking out Columbia River in double overtime on the road, the monsters of Joe Moses Court saw four players score at least 14 points to help put away the Spudders.

Landon Irwin led RAL with 15 points and eight rebounds, while also leading the defensive front.

“Ridgefield is a solid team with one of the best players in the state for 2A,” RAL head coach Jeray Key said. “Super proud of my guys. That was a tough week for us playing No. 5 ranked Columbia River in a double overtime game, No. 2 ranked Woodland, and then a Ridgefield team that was Top-10 beginning of the year.”
