WOODLAND— Sometimes, scoring 27 points in one quarter is enough. And that was the case for the Beavers Friday night, which put up that total in the second period, didn’t bother to score before or after and easily handled Hockinson 27-7 for consecutive league victories Friday.
And the efficient affair was over by 8:56 p.m., only 34 minutes after news broke that the Kalama and Stevenson game just eight miles to the north had also gone final… at halftime.
It’s no secret at this point that Michael Belvin is the focal point of the Woodland offense. But he had a new wrinkle to test out Friday…a few deep bombs down the sidelines to keep the Hockinson defense wondering whether they were suddenly playing Week 2 La Center (too soon, Woodland faithful?)
The first two possessions, granted, weren’t what Glen Flanagan or Belvin surely had in mind.
