Dorland & Salas send Jills over Beavers, eventually

MEMORIAL STADIUM — The 2A Greater St. Helens League girls soccer match between R.A. Long and Woodland was so odd, and so drawn out, that it apparently left both coaches unable to provide comment or context.

The Lumberjills and Beavers began their regularly scheduled contest on Thursday evening at Longview Memorial Stadium and played just over 32 minutes of scoreless soccer before things got weird. First there was lightning strike in the area that put the game on pause. Then, about 15 minutes into the delay, another nearby thunder crash brought the match a temporary close.

That match resumed under clear skies on Friday afternoon back at The Stadium, with R.A. Long holding on for a 2-1 win in 2A Greater St. Helens League play.

Editor’s Note: Multiple attempts by BZM to reach coaches from both teams were unsuccessful. But we still managed to scrounge up the nitty gritty details. We’d give you more if we could. Additional details, including highlight video and photo gallery, available below the paywall.
