Lumberjacks extend Civil War win streak

The last time the R.A. Long boys soccer team lost a Civil War matchup with Mark Morris, an aspiring actor named Donald Trump was best known for his cameo in the cinematic classic “Home Alone II”, a film featuring child star Macaulay Culkin and set in New York City.

More than eight years later not even President Trump’s tariffs could interrupt business as usual when the Lumberjacks completed another season sweep in The War Between the Schools with a 3-0 win over the Monarchs

Civil War II of the spring season, set at Longview Memorial Stadium, co-starred several Lumberjacks, with scoring appearances by Payton Thill, Erik Garcia, and Liam Hendrickson. But after suffering an 8-0 loss in the season’s first Civil War, the Monarchs did their part to provide drama in the contest by playing the part of plucky underdog with aplomb.

“Although we controlled most of the possession last night, it certainly wasn’t an easy result,” RAL head coach Max Anderson said. “Beyond the fact that it’s the second half of the season and everyone in the league has a good idea of our attacking capacity and tendencies, (MM head coach) Luis Garcia put together a good plan for the match.”
