This Day In History
May 15, 1984: Hoquiam tags John Morrill for three runs in the first inning, but the junior bounces back to shut the Grizzlies out the rest of the way and lead the Mark Morris baseball team to a 5-3 win in a Class AA regional semifinal.
“He’s just a battler,” MM coach Stu Marshlain said. “He doesn’t quit.”
The MM bats did their job early as well, tying the game up with a three-spot in the second and pulling ahead with two more runs in the third. Morrill helped start both rallies with singles, and Steve Plampin had the big knock in the third with a 2-RBI double.
