This Day In History
Jan. 30, 1995: Denelle Barnhurst scores a team-high 13 points and the R.A. Long girls basketball team holds off a late Kelso run to win 56-51 and move into a tie for the 2A Greater St. Helens League lead. Barnhurst buried a triple midway through the third quarter that put RAL up by 16, but Kelso’s Christell Lee sparked the Hilander comeback with 14 of her game-high 15 points in the second half. Kelso got the gap down to two points in the final 30 seconds, but Sarah Russell buried three free throws to seal the win for the Lumberjills.
