This Day In History
Feb. 27, 1988: Erin Tharp nearly sets the single-game district scoring record and what she doesn’t do, Lyndsie Rico does, to lead the Toledo girls basketball team to its first district championship with a 65-52 win over Ridgefield at Kelso. Tharp finished with 38 points — including going 20-for-23 from the free-throw line — and ended her district tournament averaging 29.6 points per game. Rico added 13 points and dished out eight assists.
