This Day In History
Oct. 13, 1974: In a battle of two of the top contenders — led by two of the top tailbacks — in the AA South Central lead, it’s Mike Davis and Winlock who come away on top, downing Morton 14-6. Huskies star Mike Herron started the scoring with a 70-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and finished with a game-high 177 yards on the ground, but the Cardinals kept him off the board the rest of the way. Davis gave Winlock the lead with a touchdown — and the ensuing two-point conversion — in the second quarter, and quarterback Steve McGraw provided some insurance with a 1-yard sneak of a touchdown in the third. Morton worked its way down the field at the end of regulation, but Winlock stuffed the Huskies on fourth down at the 2-yard line with 50 seconds left.
That Day In History
Oct. 12, 2000: Tyler McCoy rushes for 197 yards on just 12 carries — including an 84-yard touchdown scamper — to help lead Woodland to a 35-0 rout of Washougal. McCoy also reached paydirt on a 12-yard run, while James Bolen also scored two touchdowns and Tim Preston added one.
