This Day In History
Jan. 31, 2006: The Mark Morris boys basketball team keeps hope of a sixth straight league title alive with a 54-51 comeback win over Columbia River, thanks in large part to 24 points, five steals, and five offensive rebounds from Matt Argyropolous.
“Without Matt tonight, we’re sulking in the locker room,” teammate Kevin Wright said. The Monarchs gave up an 11-0 run to begin the game and trailed 37-28 in the opening minute of the third quarter, but closed the gap to four points going to the fourth before Argyropolous scored 10 in the final quarter alone. Felix Freidt added 15 points for MM, and seven rebounds.
