This Day In History
Mar. 8, 2008: Jeray Key scores a team-high 19 points in his final game as a Monarch and the Mark Morris boys basketball team rides a huge second quarter to rout Port Townsend 57-40 to claim third place at the 2A state tournament. Jyles Peterson and Mike Trautman both added nine points for the Monarchs, who turned a two-point deficit after a quarter of play to 14-point halftime lead. All but five of the Monarchs’ points were scored by seniors.
“This was a very fitting way to win for this group,” MM coach Bill Bakamus said. “A lot of them came up here as reserves last year and did not get a lot of time. Today everyone got to play, contribute, have fun, and take home a nice piece of hardware.”
