This Day In History
Dec. 11, 1998: The Toutle Lake girls basketball team overcomes a 10-point deficit going into the fourth quarter with a 24-9 run in the final stanza to beat Rainier (Wash.) 50-45 in a non-league matchup. The Ducks didn’t shoot particularly well and got hammered on the boards, but the one thing they had in their corner was a suffocating full-court defense, which forced 16 turnovers and held the Mountaineers to just three made field goals in the fourth quarter. Jessica Parsons was the only TL player in double-figures with 10 points, but Amy Veys had nine, Cristy Cooper added eight, and Shanna Higgins had seven in a balanced output.
