This Day In History
Nov. 20, 1998: Kalama avenges a high-scoring loss in the regular season with a rockfight in the mud against White Salmon in the 1A State quarterfinals, winning 8-7 at Kelso’s Schroeder Field. After the Bruins took a 7-0 lead, the Chinooks responded with a Larry Fleming touchdown run with 1:28 left in the second quarter, and quarterback Ben Morrow just got across the goal line on the two-point conversion to give them the lead.
“I thought there was a lot more scoring to come, even with the field conditions,” Morrow said. “... I had no idea that would win it for us, but I’ll take it.”
