This Day In History

• April 7, 2005: The Rainier baseball team fends off both Banks and the weather to win 2-1 in a very-delayed Cowapa League opener.
  “This is miserable weather to play in,” Rainier coach Jason Castro said. “Win or lose, it’s miserable. We haven’t played in a week and a half, so we’re glad to get one in.”
  Ben Greer threw five scoreless innings for Rainier, striking out seven and only allowing four hits. Chad Andrews broke a scoreless and rainy deadlock with a solo home run in the fourth. After Banks tied it up in the top of the seventh, the Columbians walked off in suitably ugly fashion, on a bases-loaded wild pitch.
