This Day In History
Nov. 4, 1983: K-M Mountain turns out to be in the cellar for a year, but Wahkiakum wins the battle for its trophy with a 7-6 win over winless Naselle. Scoreless for three quarters, the Mules took the lead in the fourth, when Brian Brockway — whose 45-yard pass to Jeff Wright kickstarted the drive — hit Garrett Olsen for the day’s first touchdown. Then, Tittus Lennert, a foreign exchange student from Greenland, came on for the special teams unit and converted Wahkiakum’s first successful extra point of the season to make it 7-0. Lennert’s kick proved to be vital after the Comets responded with a 30-yard Craig Kent rushing touchdown but failed their own kick.
