May 27, 1973: Jack Whitmire clears 13 feet, 11 inches to take the A state title in the pole vault and help lead the Woodland boys track and field team to the team championship in Cashmere. Bob Klein took home the title in the shot put (53 feet, 10 inches) and also placed third in the discus (147 feet, 5 inches) and fourth in the pole vault (13 feet).
