This Day In History
Dec. 22, 2007: The Wahkiakum girls basketball team wins a wild one, 65-62 over Adna in double overtime, in a game that saw seven players foul out before it was all said and done.
“It really was a slugfest,” said Wahkiakum coach Tim Brown.
Courtney Helms led the Mules with 20 points — before her night was cut short by her fifth foul. The two sides were just about even the whole way through, then exploded for 38 combined points in the fourth quarter — split down the middle at 19-19 — to send it to overtime. Haile Boyce, who finished with 15 points, hit the dagger for Wahkiakum with a 3-pointer with seven seconds left in the second OT period.
