This Day In History
Feb. 21, 2015: The Wahkiakum girls basketball team overcomes a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Napavine 49-47 and take home the Southwest 2B District title. While the Tigers went on a cold spell, the Mules got buckets from Kaylee Bryant and Peyton Souvenir, a pair of Souvenir free throws, and a Sam Boyce 3-pointer to tie the game up at 45-45 with 2:50 to go. After Napavine retook the lead on two free throws, Souvenir drilled a triple to make it 48-47 Mules with 50 secoonds left. Wahkiakum did its best to keep Napavine in the game, missing seven of eight free throws in the final minute, but came away with its first district championship in five years in the end.
