This Day In History
Sept. 11, 1970: Castle Rock spends the first three quarters of its non-league game doing just about nothing on offense, but changes that in a hurry to beat Winlock 20-6. Taking the first snap of the fourth quarter, Dan Lam dropped back and found Bill Pomeroy for a 40-yard touchdown to make it 7-6 after the extra point. Winlock’s next two possessions both ended in interceptions — one by John Reichart and the other by Frank Johnson — and the Rockets converted both short fields with Lam rushing touchdowns.
