This Day In History
Feb. 19, 1990: Konnor Kersavage breaks out at just the right time for the Winlock boys basketball team, scoring nine points in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to lead the Cardinals to a 62-54 win over Pe Ell in a loser-out District B tournament. With the Cardinals trailing 51-49 late, Kersavage scored on putbacks on back-to-back possessions to put Winlock ahead, then boosted the lead with an inside move and a three-point play with 30 seconds left. The senior finished with a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Adam Baalaer added 15 points and Steven Bowers and Jason Metcalf both scored 11.
