This Day In History
May 21, 2022: In win-or-go-home territory in NWAC Super Regionals, LCC baseball battles Umpqua in the longest game in program history, finally taking the lead in the top of the 21st inning on a bases-loaded hit batter and adding a run of insurance before holding on to win 3-1. The Red Devils got through the marathon with just four pitchers, thanks to 7 1/3 innings of relief from Aaron Robertson and nine combined scoreless frames from Kelso alum Jase Schueller and Tumwater product Camden Oram. Umpqua’s Michael Freund takes the loss after throwing more than a complete game — 9 1/3 innings — out of the bullpen.
After it’s all done, LCC needed to play another game against Umpqua and won that one as well, 7-4, to punch its ticket to the NWAC Baseball Championships, after a 30-inning day.
