This Day In History
May 27, 2000: Kalama wins its first State softball title in an all-District-IV affair, topping Toledo 3-0 in Wenatchee. The Chinooks only managed two hits off of Toledo’s Beth Miller, but took advantage of three errors to plate all of its runs in a decisive fourth inning. Kelli Arnold earned the win in the circle, striking out 11 in a shutout.
That Day in History
May 26, 1984: Toutle Lake wins the team title in the first B girls track and field state meet, held in Wenatchee. Katrina Berry “turned in an all-world performance,” winning the 100-meter dash and the 400 meters while also running the anchor leg for Toutle’s winning 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams. The Ducks narrowly beat out second-place Wahkiakum, who got first-place finishes from Michelle Thomas in both hurdles races.
