This Day In History
Feb. 11, 1999: There are more points than fouls in the Ilwaco girls basketball team’s season finale, but not by much, as the Fishermen drop a 90-87 decision to Adna in overtime. Ilwaco, which was led by 43 points from Lindsey Ramsey, went into the extra period with just five players, but then had another foul out three minutes in, forcing the Fishermen to finish with four. On top of taking Ilwaco players off the court, the pileup of fouls gave Adna 76 free throws; the Pirates made just 30 of them.
That Day In History
Feb. 10, 2011: Makaio Mobbs scores 27 points, Justin Gillen scores 13, and Cedrique Chaney adds 10 as the Kelso boys basketball team takes down Hudson’s Bay 63-52 in the 3A District quarterfinals. The Hilanders held the Eagles to 0% shooting from beyond the arc, and limited them to 23 points in the second half.
“We did a really good job defending,” Kelso coach Joe Kinch said. “It was a real consistent effort, start to finish.”
