This Day In History
Sept. 24, 1982: Mark Morris snaps an eight-game losing streak — dating back to the previous season — by beating Chehalis 27-23 at home. Rollen Jones went 8-for-16 for 187 yards in MM’s “Air Monarch” offense, and connected with Greg Nelmark and Dave Silke for touchdowns. MM went ahead 20-8 when Eric Hagdahl fell on a fumble in the Bearcats’ end zone, and capped its scoring with a Steve Plampin rushing touchdown with a minute left. Chehalis star Chris Johnson took the ensuing kickoff to the house to make it a one-score game again, but Howie Johnson fell on the guests’ onside kick to end it.
