The WIAA and OSAA state track and field championships began on Thursday in Tacoma, Yakima and Eugene.
Blast Zone Media will have photo galleries each day from the 3A/2A Championships at Mount Tahoma High School in addition to coverage from all three final sites.
With two local State champions already on the board, it’s fixing to be a heavy medal weekend for BZM area athletes.
This Day In History
May 29, 2010: After rain knocks out the first day of the 4A state softball tournament, Kelso rolls through a marathon one-day slate, winning four games in a little under 12 hours — capped by a 2-1 win in eight innings over Heritage — to take home the championship. Karina Paalova struck out 11 in a complete game — her second 11-strikeout complete game of the day. Brittany Sanders, who hit a go-ahead two-run homer in Kelso’s 3-1 semifinal win over Inglemoor, sent the Hilanders to the title with a one-out walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth vs. Heritage.
