This Day In History
Mar. 16, 2015: The Castle Rock softball team starts the season in wild fashion, walking off 4-3 over Tenino on a 180-foot scamper by Emilee Janisch. With the game tied 3-3, Janisch led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single. When Kyndil Kirkendoll bunted her over and beat the throw to first, Janisch didn’t stop running, and when the Beavers’ throw to get her at third base went wide, she came all the way home. Kellie Weber and Kenna Forney both hit triples and scored runs for the Rockets, while Trinity Naugle threw four innings of scoreless relief.
That Day In History
Mar. 15, 1990: Sam Longtain brings the winning run home on a fielder’s choice, and the Wahkiakum baseball team walks off to a 6-5 win over Naselle. Billy Wilson and Richard Robinson both had two hits for the Mules, who went into the final frame trailing by a run, and John Hauff had a knock and a pair of steals. Tim Wirkkala and Kyle Donlon both went 2-for-3 for the Comets, while Joel Strange struck out nine in four innings of relief.
