This Day In History
Feb. 14, 1986: Jennifer Bearse and Melissa Wade nearly combine to beat Washougal by themselves, totalling 44 points in the Winlock girls basketball team’s 60-46 win in the first round of the Southwest A District tournament. Bearse, who averaged a shade under 17 points per game in the regular season, scored 21, but it was Wade — who averaged just seven — who led the Cardinals with 23 points and 15 rebounds.
“To say she played well tonight would be an understatement,” said Winlock coach Jim Buchanan.
