This Day In History

• Dec. 13, 1977: The Naselle boys basketball team makes its trip to the coast a fruitful — if tense — one, taking out Ilwaco 65-64 in a non-league matchup after leading by four points at halftime but trailing by one at the end of the third quarter. Dale Wiitala led the Comets with a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Naselle’s depth outlasted the Ilwaco triumvirate of Bob DeCamp, Jay Kaino, and Milt Doumit, who combined for 54 of the Fishermen’s points.
