This Day In History
May 24, 2008: Toutle Lake caps a surprising run through the 2B state bracket to bring home its third state title in four years with a 2-1 win over Adna.
The Ducks, who went to Yakima with a 13-10 record after finishing fourth at the district tournament, got seven innings of two-hit ball from Rachel Dahlman in the circle. She also factored into both of TL’s runs, singling home Amanda Cox and scoring on Lacey Hoffmann’s go-ahead single in the bottom of the sixth.
“Going into State, it seemed like everybody was talking up the other three teams from our district,” first-year TL coach Mark Benson said. “I think we got overlooked. But it worked out.”
