This Day In History
Feb. 22, 2013: Macee Utecht scores 22 points and Tienery Uhlenkott scores 21 to lead the Castle Rock girls basketball team to a 60-55 overtime win over Blaine in a 1A regional, sending the Rockets to the state tournament. Castle Rock dug itself out of a seven-point hole in the fourth quarter, before Maddi Seidl swatted away Blaine’s attempt at a go-ahead layup at the buzzer. Utecht broke the deadlock after a tense beginning to overtime with a triple, and CR sealed the win at the free-throw line.
“That was a great game,” Castle Rock coach Don Misner said. “Besides seeing my own kids play at the state tournament, this is right up there at the top.”
