This Day In History
Feb. 25, 1955: Rankin Kaut drops 20 points and Harold Ness adds 18, and the Castle Rock boys basketball team pulls away from Kalama for a 56-47 win in a loser-out contest in the Southwest Washington B tournament. Kaut put the Rockets ahead 36-34 with a field goal with three seconds left in the third quarter, and Castle Rock opened the fourth on a 13-4 to widen the gap, allowing it to withstand a late flurry of three quick buckets from Kalama’s Paul Stone. Stone finished with 12 points, while Gene Hunden led Kalama with 14.
